What to Expect During Your Consultation
Your Consultation
The consultation appointment is the essential first step in the process of considering plastic surgery. It is your opportunity to ask all the questions you have regarding the procedure you are interested in. During the consultation, Dr. Philpott will determine if you are a candidate for that procedure. Your time is valuable to us, so please allow 60-75 minutes for your in-depth consultation.
Registration
When you initially schedule your consultation appointment with Dr. Philpott, we will e-mail you all the necessary forms which we will need to create your new patient chart, such as demographic sheets, medical history, and HIPAA form. Or, if you prefer, you can simply click FORMS and print out the New Patient Information Form. We ask that you complete this form and return it to our office on the day of your consultation. Upon your arrival at our office, our front desk staff will greet you and ask that you allow us to copy your photo identification. They will also provide you with a copy of our privacy policy. Your right to privacy is very important to us, so we guard all of your personal information and medical records with the utmost caution and discretion. You can read our Patient Privacy Policy here.
Physician Consultation
During your visit at The Body Sculpting Center, you will be treated with courtesy and respect by our professional office staff. We want you to feel comfortable and at ease as you contemplate a surgical procedure. To begin your consultation, a member of our medical staff will escort you to one of the examination rooms. She will obtain vitals and basic information from you about what procedures you are interested in. You will then meet with Dr. Philpott to discuss your goals, expectations and concerns.
During your consultation, you should be prepared to discuss such topics as your medical conditions, medical treatments, previous surgeries, family history and current medications. Dr. Philpott will also evaluate your general overall health status, and one of our staff members will take photographs. Your health, safety and overall satisfaction is our priority. The success and safety of your surgical procedure depends very much on your complete candor during your consultation, and our office is a judgment-free zone. Dr. Philpott will then give you his professional opinion about which procedures may meet your desired goals and objectives.
Some things Dr. Philpott will discuss are:
- What you want to change about your body
- Your goals
- Which procedure(s) can help you achieve your goals
- What results you can expect from each procedure
- What’s involved in the surgery (anesthesia type, incisions, recovery time frame)
- The risks and possible complications from surgery
- Your medical history (be open and honest for your safety)
