Scar Management Program in Phoenix, AZ
BodyNew MedSpa, the premiere medical spa of Scottsdale, Phoenix, and the surrounding areas in Arizona, offers a scar management program to its patients.
Scar formation is a natural part of the healing process that occurs when the skin repairs wounds caused by accident, surgery, or disease. The time skin takes to heal will vary depending on the degree of damage, and the longer it takes to heal, the greater the chance of a scar.
Scarring is considered to be the final stage of wound healing and all partial thickness and full thickness wounds will form scars, but not all of the scars will become abnormal. Normal scars will develop during the first 48 hours after wound closure and can fade within 3 months, whereas abnormal scars can occur up to 18 months later. Scars resulting from surgical incisions can become abnormal regardless of the skill of the surgeon.
How Does the Program Work?
The program uses the FDA-approved OMNILUX™ LED system and the topical scar treatment, BioCorneum®. The program includes eight OMNILUX™ treatments at our award-winning medical spa. All treatments are supervised by a physician.
It’s that easy! You will notice an incredible difference in your scar area in just 4 weeks.
What the program includes:
8 week supply of Avima® Scar Serum and 8 treatments under the OMNILUX™ LED light therapy system.
What Is Avima® Scar Serum?
Avima® Scar Serum is a patented, transparent, self-drying silicone gel that improves the appearance of scars and prevents abnormal or excessive scar formation. It softens and flattens raised scars, reduces redness, and relieves itching and discomfort associated with scars.
What Is the OMNILUX™ system?
OMNILUX™ is a medical device that uses light emitting diode (LED) technology. Using visible red LEDs and invisible infrared LEDs, OMNILUX™ works with the body’s own natural processes to counteract the effect of scarring.
How Does the OMNILUX™ Work on Scars?
As we grow older, the cells that manufacture the skin’s supportive structures begin to slow down. Environmental damage from the sun’s rays speed up this process and produce free radicals that damage the skin and the cells that produce collagen and elastin. OMNILUX™ combination light therapy targets specific cells that are responsible for the synthesis and repair of the skin’s supportive structures, leading to a dramatic improvement in the appearance of scar tissue.
How Soon after Surgery Can Treatment Begin?
Receiving treatment two weeks after surgery is recommended for optimal results. This program works on existing scars as well.
