5 Body Contouring Myths, Debunked

Body Contouring in Phoenix, AZ

With body contouring, it is possible to smooth, tone and tighten your body. However, when it comes to body contouring, there are several common myths that you should know about. Here they are, with the skinny on each myth.

Myth:  There is a permanent cure for cellulite.

Fact:  No, there are no permanent cures for cellulite. Anyone who tells you otherwise is not being truthful. While there are many wonderful treatments that can provide a long-lasting reduction in cellulite, even with diet and exercise these treatments are not permanent. The body changes over time. Weight gain and aging will play a factor in the eventual return of cellulite.

Myth:  Liposuction is just for women.

Fact:  Liposuction is a good choice for both men and women. In fact, liposuction is one of the five most frequently performed cosmetic surgery procedures for men. Male plastic surgery is on the rise as more and more men are realizing the benefit of cosmetic procedures.

Myth:  Liposuction gets rid of loose skin.

Fact:  Liposuction will not get rid of loose skin. It removes fat from the body, but it is not used for skin tightening. If you are experiencing loose skin as the result of a major weight loss, liposuction will not help solve your problem. You should consider cosmetic procedures like a tummy tuck, arm lift, thigh lift or a full body lift. These procedures will get rid of loose skin.

Myth:  Body contouring prevents weight gain.

Fact:  Body contouring procedures do not prevent people from gaining weight. The longevity of body contouring results will vary from person to person. While the treatments will remove or shrink fat cells in a targeted area, the remaining fat cells can enlarge with weight gain. To best retain your body contouring results, follow a healthy regimen of diet and exercise.

Myth:  Non-surgical procedures are ineffective.

Fact:  There are many beneficial non-surgical body contouring treatments that yield real results. Just remember that diet and exercise will play a big role in maintaining those results.
