Arizona Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion refers to the superficial sanding of the skin, which
results in exfoliation of thickened epidermis and a softer, more even
skin texture and tone. The use of microdermabrasion began in Europe in
the 1980's and involves the use of tiny particles blown against the surface
of the skin and vacuumed away, simultaneously removing the superficial
layers of skin to expose the fresher, healthier skin below.
Arizona microdermabrasion requires a series of treatments. When repeated weekly or bi-weekly for anywhere from 6-16 weeks, the cumulative results can be significant. Though you definitely feel the procedure as it happens it is a painless experience (often compared to being licked by a cat) and therefore does not require anesthesia. The procedure typically lasts about half an hour.
The skin may be slightly pink and/or sensitive after Arizona microdermabrasion. However, this effect usually only lasts about twenty minutes. Sun protection is recommended following treatment.
