PRESS RELEASE
Dr. Enrique Leon Es Muy Caliente!
Favorite Local Cosmetic Surgeon for Hispanics
Scottsdale, AZ- Aug 20, 2007 Local renowned cosmetic surgeon specializes in facial procedures such as rhinoplasty and facelifts and is a favorite of the growing Latino community in Scottsdale, Arizona.
In the past year alone, cosmetic surgeries have jumped 67 percent among Hispanics and African Americans, and nearly 60 percent among Asians, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons says. Hispanics are leading this charge, with more than 900,000 cosmetic procedures in 2005 - nearly 10 percent of the total performed in this country. The trend is even more obvious in Arizona, where cosmetic surgeon Dr. Enrique Leon of the Body Sculpting Center says more than 25% of his patients are Hispanic.
A graduate of the University of Mexico, Dr. Leon performed his residency at Colorado State Hospital and the Veterans Administration (an affiliated hospital with Ohio State University). He has been practicing cosmetic surgery in the Valley for the last seven years. He believes his extensive education and experience in Hispanic-prominent communities gives him a special advantage when it comes to developing a rapport with Latino patients. Many plastic surgeons speak more than one language or have multi-lingual staff to aid in patient communication. Dr. Leon admits that speaking the Spanish language is an asset, but he insists that other factors are equally or more important. He agrees patient education is essential. "Acknowledging cultural differences is extremely important, understanding a patients desires to enhance their natural beauty without erasing their ethnic origins is key." Special considerations and approaches are necessary in procedures for Hispanic patients. "Scarring is an area of concern among darker-skinned patients, and many don't realize there are new techniques to help preserve the skin tone and minimize unwanted outcomes," he adds. His fellowship training in cosmetic aesthetic surgery at the Graduate Hospital affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, as well as a cardio thoracic surgery fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, has contributed to Dr. Leon's extensive knowledge in specialty facial procedures such as advanced reconstruction rhinoplasty and facelifts. He also performs liposuction, breast augmentations, tummy tucks, and other body contouring procedures. The most commonly requested surgical cosmetic procedures amongst his Hispanic patients are nose reshaping, breast augmentation, and liposuction.
Dr. Leon is a member of the American Medical Society, American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Member of the American Society of Lipo-Suction Surgery, Inc. He is also a Fellow of the American Society of Cosmetic Surgery and the American College of Surgeons as well as a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery.
