Patient Spotlight
This month’s patient spotlight is on Stephanie Crowe. After having a breast augmentation at the Body Sculpting Center with Dr. Borsand, here’s what she had to say...

Dr. Borsand,

I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate how helpful you and your staff have been to me. Starting with my consultation, all the girls were so informative and answered all my questions about my breast augmentation surgery as well as helped calm my nerves. It has only been 2 weeks since my surgery, but I couldn’t be happier. Thanks to your care and expertise, I have the self-esteem and confidence I never thought was possible! Your staff and especially you have given me added inspiration as to why I have chosen to pursue a career in the medical field. I can only hope that one day I will be able to touch lives and help people the way you have helped me.

Sincerely,
Stephanie Crowe

A Pulse of Light
Intense Pulse Light Treatment

FotoFacial™ treatments result in more youthful-appearing skin. FotoFacial™ treatments were developed by dermatologists to consistently and predictably improve the visible appearance of the skin with little or no down time.

FotoFacial™, also known as photorejuvenation, is intense light emitted in a series of gentle pulses over the entire face, hence the term IPL (Intense Pulse Light). Treatments are done at intervals of approximately three weeks for a series of three to five treatments. This special light, which is different than laser treatments, emits light over many wavelengths allowing the light to penetrate to all the levels of the skin where abnormal, easily dilated vessels can be found. By contrast, lasers produce only a single wavelength of light and are limited in both depth of penetration and in what indications they can treat.

Photorejuvenation treatments will also help patients who suffer from photo-aging of the skin, pigmentation from sun exposure (age spots), irregularities of skin texture, mild acne scars, large pores, dark circles around the eyes, and fine lines, especially around the eyes and mouth.

IPL won’t treat frown lines on the forehead and between the brows (see Botox® Cosmetic article) and will not help baggy or sagging skin. It is not a substitute for a facelift. IPL is not a treatment for skin cancer, but can treat pre-cancers called actinic keratosis. IPL won’t remove bumpy moles, but can remove their pigment. It will dramatically improve or remove acquired freckling while genetic freckles usually return after treatment.

The Body Sculpting Center thoroughly researched this new technology and agrees with the benefits it will offer our patients. Please schedule a free consultation for further information.  Book a fotofacial consultation online.

Vocabulary
For the Cosmetic Patient

sclerotherapy - Considered the gold standard treatment for removing spider and some varicose leg veins. It is a very cost-effective procedure that seldom leaves a scar or produces adverse effects. At the Body Sculpting Center, Sclerotherapy is performed on an outpatient basis. A Phlebologist, a doctor of medicine that deals with vein diseases, injects the sclerosing agent into the spider or varicose vein. The solution causes the vein to close up and collapse, becoming tissue that is eventually absorbed by the body. The work of carrying the blood is shifted to other healthy blood vessels nearby. Ask us about our new laser for this treatment. Book a sclerotherapy consultation online.

rhinoplasty - Surgery to reshape the nose, is one of the most common of all plastic surgery procedures. Rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change the angle between your nose and your upper lip. It may also correct a birth defect or injury, or help relieve some breathing problems. Book a rhinoplasty consultation online.

blepharoplasty - Used to remove the fat deposits and loose skin that may form on the lower eyelids with age. Many factors, including heredity and sun damage, accelerate these changes. Younger people also elect to have this procedure done to eliminate puffiness of the eyes from congenital excess fatty tissue. Book a blepharoplasty consultation online.

Scary needle!
Don't Let The Wrong Person Give You Botox® Cosmetic.

Botox® Cosmetic
Understanding Is The Key

Botox® Cosmetic is currently the best short-term solution for facial lines and creases. Though it is not a substitute for a facelift, nor will it help baggy or sagging skin, Botox® Cosmetic has taken the nation by storm.
The cosmetic surgeons at the Body Sculpting Center strongly urge you to consider the risks involved in attending one of the so-called Botox® Cosmetic “parties” that commonly take place. Alcohol, if served during Botox® Cosmetic “parties,” may impair your ability to clearly understand, ask questions and make decisions regarding the risks and benefits of Botox® Cosmetic treatments.

As with all medical procedures, there are risks in getting Botox® Cosmetic injections. We believe strongly that each patient needs to be informed individually of the risks and benefits, as well as possible complications involved with Botox® Cosmetic treatments.

Our doctors and nurses are skilled and experienced in the administering of Botox® Cosmetic and can answer all your questions individually in a personal atmosphere. It is important to know the qualifications of the person administering the Botox® Cosmetic injection. Also, Allergan is the only company licensed to sell Botox® Cosmetic. If the bottle does not say Allergan on it, do not proceed with the treatment. Botox® Cosmetic, although an elective procedure, is still a medical procedure and should always be treated as serious business.
