Patient Spotlight Dear Body Sculpting Center, I recently had a Portrait PSR3 treatment at your center. I am 45-years-old and have spent too much time in the sun. With so much sun damage, I looked older than I am. I chose to have the procedure on my face to decrease the appearance of my wrinkles. I went into the office for a high-power treatment on my forehead, cheeks, upper lip and chin. The treatment was slightly uncomfortable on the high setting. Immediately after the treatment, my face turned beat red and felt like I had a sunburn. A few days later, the treated area turned a brownish color and began to peel. The skin underneath was a light pink color. Several weeks later, I went back in for a low power treatment to even out the color of my face. The low-power treatment was not uncomfortable at all and again, after treatment, felt like a sunburn for a few days. My skin looks and feels younger and keeps improving each day. I am amazed at how much improvement I see in my upper lip area. The wrinkles used to be so deep I could play music on the grooves! And now, they have practically vanished. Everyone at work is interested in this amazing procedure. I would recommend Portrait to anyone! I wanted to tell Dr. Leon and Toni thank you for my new and improved look! Much Ado About Nitrogen We have now had the Portrait PSR3 for a few months and have had the opportunity to apply this treatment to a number of patients. As evidenced by our patient spotlight this month, Portrait PSR3 can produce astonishing results. The Portrait PSR3 is designed to resurface the skin in a gentler way than the commonly used CO2 lasers (which require a long down-time or recuperation period) with similar results. The Portrait PSR3 uses nitrogen plasma to resurface the skin and only takes about 15 minutes. Patients can opt for a full-power treatment or multiple low power treatments; however, we recommend the low-power treatments to decrease discomfort and downtime. The Portrait PSR3 treatment triggers the regenerative properties of the lower layers of the skin while causing the wrinkled upper layers to shed. The result is fresh, younger looking skin that continues to generate new tissue for a prolonged period of time. We have found this to be the most gentle and most effective solution for aging skin. The treatment is appropriate for both men and women and is excellent on the upper chest for women who have sunspots and red capillaries near the skin surface. After just a few minutes treatment with the Portrait PSR3, you can have a smooth, even-colored neckline free of brown spots. This makes wearing camisoles and eveningwear so much more appealing. Thermagic There are now new applications for the Thermage®. We have had very positive results with Thermage® as a facial treatment. In many people it is the perfect alternative for a facelift because it causes a general tightening of the tissue layers beneath the skin. We have made recent refinements to our technique that result in Thermage® being an even better skin tightening modality for aging skin. At a recent meeting of laser companies and physicians, we learned that there is now a way for this treatment to be used on sagging abdominal skin. This typically occurs in someone who has lost weight after childbirth. We now consider Thermage a viable alternative to a tummy tuck for some patients. Book a thermage consultation online. |

Building Improvement Originally slated to be a 4,000 sqft. addition, the Body Sculpting Center has now revised it’s expansion to a nearly 7000 square foot addition to our existing facility. Although our current building is well suited for patient care, our new space will help us provide more efficient service to our patients and also allow more room for new treatments and technologies. The new addition will include new doctors offices, treatment rooms, expanded storage and a central supply area. It will also include a new waiting area for surgical patients and special preoperative care area. We will start construction in January and be finished in approximately 6 months. We will be holding an inaugural party upon completion and will invite you to visit and tour our fantastic new facility when it is all finished. |

Zeno Zit Zapper Zeno is a new handheld device that is used to heal pimples on the skin. You simply hold the Zeno device up to the skin for 2 ½ minutes and the deep heat that it provides kills bacteria. It clears up mild acne much quicker than topical treatments. The sooner you treat the bacteria, the less likely there will be a resulting scar or discoloration. Another benefit is that it does not have the side effects of oral or topical treatments. It is appropriate for the treatment of mild to moderate acne. At the Body Sculpting Center, we are selling these futuristic devices. Call and speak with Toni, our aesthetician, to get your Zeno. |

LipoTuck® There's a new procedure in town, and it was named right here at the Body Sculpting Center. It's called the LipoTuck and is showing marked improvements in surgery time as well as overall recovery time for the patient. Because of the quality of results and the decreased downtime, we have begun to use it in place of a traditional tummy tuck in many cases. During a traditional tummy tuck, the surgeon separates the skin from the abdominal wall starting below the belly button all the way up to the breast bone. This causes significant trauma to the area and results in slower healing and a long overall downtime. Patients who have had a previous gall bladder surgery with a long scar are open to additional risk, since this may further reduce the blood supply to the skin and subject the patient to skin loss complications. With the new LipoTuck procedure, the doctor uses a traditional liposuction cannula to remove excess fat and separate the skin while keeping the blood vessels intact. This new approach speeds up the recovery process by allowing plenty of blood to flow to the incision and other traumatized areas and also reduces the overall risk of surgery to the patient. |

Turkey Fajitas Y ou know how it goes... Thanksgiving dinner, millions of relatives and tons of leftover turkey. And you can only have turkey sandwiches so many times. So, what can you do? Our nursing director, Cathy, recommends turkey fajitas.
In large skillet, heat olive. When hot, add 1 tsp. butter and chopped onion. Sauté until translucent and browning. Add turkey and fajita seasoning to taste. Sauté until slightly browned. Remove from skillet and keep warm. Brown the tortillas in the skillet and sprinkle cheese and cilantro onto shell. Add warm turkey mixture and fold over. Spread relish over the shell and remove from skillet when hot. Garnish with tomato, cilantro, sour cream and relish.
