Patient Spotlight After a marriage of many years, my wife passed away very unexpectedly. I was devastated and lonely. About a year later on a trip to visit my daughter in Michigan, I ran into a former co-worker, a woman that I always liked and she still worked for the same company I was once employed with. This lady was also living alone. We had quite a few dates together and when one day I asked her how she would like to move to Arizona, it did not take her too long for her to make up her mind. The fact that she was quite a few years younger than I am was often on my mind and I found myself looking in the mirror more frequently. I noticed then that I had a lot of excess skin on my neck that made me look older than the rest of my body. Through an acquaintance that sold me some insurance I heard for the first time about the Body Sculpting Center. He himself had a neck procedure done there and was very pleased with the results. Shortly after, when I had something to do in Scottsdale, I stopped by the Body Sculpting Center to look over the place. I was favorably impressed and made an appointment for an evaluation. That's when I met Dr. Leon, a very pleasant man, and also some of his friendly staff. He explained to me in an unrushed way and easy to understand language the procedure that could be done in my case. The cost quoted to me was actually less than I expected, and I made up my mind right then to go for it. The appointment for the surgery was a few weeks later. My nervousness on the day of surgery was soon melting away when I was in the care of the very skillful and friendly staff that prepared me for the procedure. When I woke up from a pleasant sleep, I was already bandaged up and I was given some instruction and some medication. The pain pills I never needed to take. The follow-up appointments with Dr. Leon were similarly unrushed and pleasant. P.S. The woman I mentioned earlier I am happily married to now. Ewald Traub

The Cosmetic Decision Day in and day out, we compare ourselves to those around us. Some of us do it less than others, but we all do it. It is the basis for all vanity-oriented services, whether it be skin care, hair styling, car sales, real estate, and yes, even cosmetic surgery. We live in an age where the Ego is king, or queen, and we are the subjects of comparison-based rationality on a daily basis. So why do we do it? I don't have the answer. I do have some simple steps on how we can make the best of it, however, especially when it comes to cosmetic surgery. STEP 1: STEP 2: STEP 3: STEP 4: |

Get Bikini Beautiful! It's springtime, or 'First Summer,' as we call it here in Arizona. Our temperatures usually start to climb into the triple digits by mid-April and then steadily rise to the realm of intolerable. For most of us, a dip in the nice cool waters of the local swimming hole becomes a must. Unfortunately, many are condemned to a life not-so aquatic because of the anguish instilled by a simple article of clothing known as the bikini. But, what can one do to let go of this fear and get bikini beautiful? I have consulted the Body Sculpting Center staff to find out what our most common bikini complaints are and what we can do to help. So, here we go in order of importance: The number one procedure that will make or break the bikini is hair removal. We offer laser hair removal and waxing for this issue. Laser hair removal usually takes 15 to 30 minutes for the actual treatment plus about an hour for the topical anesthetic. It usually requires 3 to 5 treatments but the results are permanent. Waxing is the less expensive of the two treatments and is great for a quick fix, but the results are only temporary. (Click here to book a free consultation for laser hair removal) It appears that the breasts are the number two topic for bikini bearers. For those with under-developed breasts, we offer our signature 24-hour recovery breast augmentation procedure. For those with over-developed and sagging breasts, we have the breast reduction and breast lift procedures that can be performed in conjunction with an augmentation to give back that perky look. (Click here to book a free consultation for breast augmentation) Number three on the list is cellulite and excess fat. We offer liposuction of the neck, arms, belly, hips, back, thighs, buttocks and flanks. If there's a part of the body with excessive fat in it, chances are that we can liposuction it. (Click here to book a free consultation for liposuction) Number four on the list of things bikini-ites want is a nice butt. Much like the breasts, some want their buttocks bigger and others want it smaller. Fortunately we offer procedures for both. We offer two procedures to enlarge the buttocks: fat transfer and butt implants. Fat transfer is the procedure in which we take fat from one part of the body and transfer it to another (in this case the butt). Buttock implants are a bit more invasive and require more recovery time but give a more noticeable result. As for buttock reduction, liposuction is the answer. (Click here to book a free consultation for buttock contouring) Last but not least on the bikini wearer's list is a nice set of legs. As mentioned above, we offer liposuction of the thighs for the upper legs, but there's still the issue of the lower legs. The calf muscles can be a difficult area to develop. For those interested, the Body Sculpting Center offers calf implants. These are implants placed in the calf to give the calf a fuller appearance. A Fish Called Lipo It is always a nice idea to have a pet. Here at the Body Sculpting Center we have Lipo, our Siamese Fighting Fish, also known as Bettas or scientifically as Betta Splendens. Bettas are a common fish among aquarium owners and for good reason. Their colorful design and long, flowing fins offer a spectacular display. The name Siamese Fighting Fish is derived from the fish being a native to the waters of Thailand (formerly known as Siam) and the fact that two males of this species occupying the same water will fight to the death. In its natural habitat, the Betta is an occupant of rice paddies. At times throughout the year, these pools shrink to almost nothing; this is why the betta can successfully live in a fairly small tank. What's more interesting is that due to the small spaces in which they naturally inhabit, the Betta has evolved an organ called the labyrinth organ, which enables the fish to breathe air from the water's surface. In fact, the Betta has to have access to the surface for air in order to survive. |

Cooking With Cathy
Preheat oven to 375°. Clean the chicken, discarding giblets & neck. Rinse well and pat dry. Spray the roasting pan with cooking spray. Cut veggies into quarters and place in roasting pan. Season with salt and pepper. Place the chicken on top of the veggies, breast side down, and drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Bake for 30 minutes then turn the chicken over and bake another 60 minutes, basting at least 2 times with the juices from the bottom of the roasting pan. Remove from oven. Remove chicken from pan and rest on foil covered cutting board for 10 minutes. Remove veggies from pan & place on foil-lined baking sheet. Return to oven to brown for 10 minutes. Make pan gravy with drippings in roasting pan if desired or just use drippings for sauce. For pan gravy, place roasting pan with drippings on a medium heat burner and sprinkle with 1 tbs. of flour. Mix to incorporate all flour and cook into paste for 1 - 2 minutes. Add ½ cup cream and 1 cup chicken stock & whisk until it reaches a full boil. Mixture will thicken. Reduce heat & continue to cook until desired thickness. Enjoy! |
